Why do we?
Stand to sing?
“Then some Levites ….STOOD UP and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with very loud voice.” (2 Chronicles 20:19)
”After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, STANDING before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”(Revelation 7:9-10)
Lift our hands?
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will LIFT UP MY HANDS.” (Psalms. 63:4)
LIFT UP YOUR HANDS in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.” (Psalms 134:2)
Clap our hands?
CLAP YOUR HANDS, all you nations, shout to God with cries of joy.” (Psalms 47:1)
Dance?
“Praise His name in dance.” (Psalms. 149:3)
”David danced before the Lord with all his might.” (2 Samuel 6:14)
Sing in tongues and in English?
“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will SING WITH MY SPIRIT, but I will also SING WITH MY MIND.” (1 Corinthians 14:14, 15)
Sing praise and worship songs?
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with PSALMS, HYMNS, and SPIRITUAL SONGS. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:18,19)
”Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing PSALMS, HYMNS, and SPIRITUAL SONGS with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16)
Prophesy?
“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of PROPHECY.” (1 Corinthians 14:1)
”Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good to another miraculous powers, to another PROPHECY.” (1 Corinthians 12:7, 10)
What is prophecy?
“The Sovereign Lord has spoken – who can but PROPHESY?(Amos 3:8)
”But everyone who PROPHESIES speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.”(1 Corinthians 14:3)
